SHAK’s mission is to work with local young people and adults to improve well-being, inclusion and life chances by nurturing talents, passions, skills and confidence. Our vision is of a place where everyone can live and learn together. We want everyone to feel accepted, respected, valued and heard whether staff, volunteers, supporters or the people we help.

We are committed to actively confronting and eliminating any manifestations of racism within our charity. To this end, we regularly train staff in equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), also included in our service inductions and codes of conduct.

We will not tolerate racial discrimination from our service users, members of our staff, or our volunteers. We invite anyone who has experienced or witnessed discrimination within SHAK to raise this with us (safely and confidentially), and we promise to investigate and take appropriate action.

As a charity committed to inclusion, tackling inequalities, and community development we cannot be silent about racial inequality.
