The South Hampstead Education and Life-long Learning (SHELL) Centre is a vibrant community learning centre with a difference. Thanks to money from Camden’s Neighborhood Renewal Fund and with funding from the Government’s UK on Line initiative, 2 disused launderette’s on the Alexandra & Ainsworth Housing Estate was converted into this community resource with fast broadband Internet connection and modern technological facilities.
People come to learn a range of skills in informal “Drop In” sessions where you learn at your pace as well as more formal courses which can lead to accredited certificates. Centre activities are developed in response to the needs of local people. We offer a range of free courses, learning activities, health and wellbeing activities and information in a friendly supportive community atmosphere.
